Deborah Hill Expertise and background This work has included extensive qualitative research of customers, suppliers, managers, and subject matter experts where she is able to reveal the often unspoken customer needs and wants, that are the true drivers of purchasing. She has undertaken this work to identify, and prioritise the customer purchase criteria for customer value research. Deborah began her research career at Queen's University in Canada in the mid 1970's. After completion of her Master's degree in Applied Psychology, she worked as a Psychology consultant and in the travel industry, before moving to New Zealand in 1986. Deborah served as a consultant with Radford Group and Prometheus Ltd until 1997. Then she became a founding director of David Shieff and Associates Ltd, a full-service strategic consultancy and research firm, specialising in customer and employee satisfaction measurement, market research and analysis, and strategy facilitation and formulation. Now the Director of Unconventional Wisdom, Deborah's passion is to bring the voice of the customer into client organisations as it is her belief that a comprehensive understanding of customers is an essential precursor to the creation of value. Over the past two years, Deborah has been involved in the development and implementation of customer value management programmes in companies in the telecommunications, insurance and pharmaceutical sectors in New Zealand, United Kingdom, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong. More recently she has also been involved in the development of employee satisfaction survey research projects, working with client management teams to boost staff morale and reduce churn.
